OUTBACK ADVENTURE RIDE - Mark & Ken's SIMPSON DESERT RAMBLE |
Supporting the
Royal Flying Doctor Service We thought it only fitting that we would help support the Royal Flying Doctor Service as they are the ones that come to the rescue when things go wrong in the outback. On one particular ride (The Great Australian Ride 2012) and only days apart we had 2 mates (Kel on his BMW GS1200 & Wayne on his Suzuki V-Strom) cared for and flown out of the outback to the nearest major hospital by the RFDS and we will be eternally grateful for what they did. They don't just save stupid idiots on motorbikes, watch the 30 second video below and you'll see what a huge difference they make to the Regional & Outback towns of Australia. HEROES IN THE SKY... that's what we say! PLEASE WATCH THIS 30 SECOND VIDEO: The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, it delivers extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia. The RFDS is a not-for-profit organisation. While supported by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments, the RFDS relies heavily on fundraising and donations from the community to purchase and medically-equip its aircraft, and to finance other major capital initiatives. Today, the RFDS has a fleet of 60 aircraft operating from 21 bases located across the nation and provides medical assistance to over 270,000 people every year – that’s one every two minutes.
