The Drive Mode Dashboard 2 (DMD2) app is a great little bit of tech gear, but currently only works with Android smart phones & tablets, so if you only have Apple devices this is not for you.

This app transforms any Android tablet or phone into a motorcycle dashboard!

Now it must be said that the DMD2 app is currently in development, but it’s FREE and has fully functioning features that work great as it is now. New features are being worked on and current features are being refined. This article was written in November 2021.

SO WHAT DOES IT HAVE ?
The current available FREE version for DMD2 includes the Dashboard, Speedometer, Control Station and the Apps View. It does also have the OBD Sensor section, but it’s not functional yet. The app allows you to orient it in Landscape or Portrait view. Additional plugins like the Roadbook and Map Views are available as an in-app purchase / subscription.

WHERE TO GET IT
You can download it from Google Play Store – DMD2. Drive Mode Dashboard Website: www.drivemodedashboard.com

OK, BUT WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT?

The Dashboard View

The main Dashboard view, here you get a multi view of the other screens and the really great thing is you can customise it to have what you want on there!
Side menu options available.

The Speedometer View

This has lots of information!
TRIP: Distance, Total Time, Travel Time, Stop Time.
Large Speedo and Odometer. Average Speed and Max Speed.
Side menu options available.

The Map View

Offline maps for all over the world, manage the maps and only download the ones you need on your device. Import your own GPX files to follow. Use Standard Map or Topographic (Off-Road) Map. The Map screen is only 50% complete so far and already I like it, so once it’s complete I reckon it will be brilliant.
Side menu options available.

The Control Station View

Not much here… control the Screen Brightness & Music Volume. It also has a Lock Rotation option, but currently does not seem to work. Side menu options available.

The Roadbook View

This is a Digital Roadbook for PDF roadbooks. It can display Total Distance, Partial Distance, Heading/Bearing and Current Speed. Both total & Partial distance can also be adjusted when you take that dreaded wrong turn! Obviously you can load any PDF roadbook and navigate your way. Side menu options available.

The Apps View

Very simple, just gives you direct access to all your apps easily within the DMD2 App. Grid view or line view option available.

The OBD Sensor View

I’m not 100% sure on this screen. I believe this is still in development, but basicly you will be able to put a dongle which will give you stats and information on your engine. Side menu options available.

The Global Setting View

This is where you get access to the DMD2 shop to purchace and manage subsriptions. There are currently 2 options: Roadbook and Maps. Many other setting like time format etc.

TOP and BOTTOM information

On all Views you can see along the top of the screen the following information:
Battery Charge %, Tempreture, GPS Fix, Online/Offline Status, Date & Time.
Along the bottom is the main menu for all the different views.

CARPE CONTROLLERS
CONTROL FROM THE HANDLEBAR

Another great thing about the DMD2, it’s optimised for CARPE handlebar remote controllers which are sold at Thork Racing. No need to even touch the screen. If your serious about Off-Road navigating this is the way to go!

I have no experience with the controller, but I know a mate that has it and he loves it!

Check Out THORK RACING

I will be doing a video review of the DMD2 app soon, which I’ll add here!

Cheers… Mark
